On September 18, 2015, 29-year old Brandi Deaton of 21690 LA Hwy. 1032 in Denham Springs turned herself in at the Livingston Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

>Felony Theft – 1 count (cash totaling $16,000+)

>Injuring Public Records – 1 count

>Malfeasance in Office

Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘These charges stem from incidents where Mrs. Deaton was employed as the assistant clerk for the Village of Port Vincent. In her official capacity, she was able to collect fees and fines for the Village. Mrs. Deaton was taking cash for the fees and fines and was failing to deposit them into the Village of Port Vincent account. She was instead depositing the funds into her personal bank account.'

Allegations of misappropriation of funds were reported to the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office by the Village of Port Vincent in April of 2015. At this time, the Legislative Auditor's Office was also contacted.

Through an investigation by both agencies, charges were able to be brought against Deaton.

She served as assistant clerk for the Village from October 2013 through March 2015.

She is no longer in the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Bond was set at $60,500.00.
