On February 24, 2015, the Narcotics and Uniform Patrol Divisions of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a narcotics-related investigation on Livingston Street in the city of Albany, Louisiana.

During the investigation, members of the LPSO made contact with Joseph "John” Wascom. Wascom had
arrived at a residence on Livingston St. When Wascom observed a law enforcement presence, he reached and pulled out a firearm from his waistband. Deputies were quickly able to gain control of his firearm after a brief struggle. During that struggle, Wascom dropped approximately 32-grams of suspected methamphetamine (street value: ~ $3,850.00).  The drugs were packaged in several individual baggies. LPSO also recovered weighing scales and other drug paraphernalia.

The firearm recovered from Wascom was reported as stolen.

Wascom had a passenger in the vehicle. That passenger was identified as Roy Hart. Hart was arrested  after the LPSO learned he had full knowledge of the drugs being transported around in the vehicle.

Albany Police Department assisted with the arrest of both suspects.
